Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this problem. I plug in the power cable to an IDE drive (molex plug) and turn on everything, and the hard drive spins up. I plug in the IDE cable to the hard drive, turn on everything, and this time the hard drive doesn't even power-on, and I can't seem to figure out why. Would a bad IDE cable be causing this problem?

Thanks,
- Eli

Hi,

IDE ribbon or round cables can easily go faulty.

I keep a new spare just for this reason.

Replace the cable with a new one. Fit 80 wire cables to allow for any future upgrade.

Is there another device on the same cable?

Hard drive is the only device; I'll try a different cable to see what happens.
