Hey guys, I got a question... I bought a new converter that would convert my 2.5 laptop hard drive to be suitable to 3.5 regular desktop one. So, I connect everything and power on and computer won't recognize it. I don't know what to do.... I don't even feel the laptop hard drive spinning.... when I connect all the cables. Here is the piece that I bought from compusa: Converter Could you please give me some advice on that...?

Hi, I have used such devices for years with no problems. Do you have it plugged on correctly. On mine it's right with the pcboard is pointing up. Backward the power pins would be on the wrong ends so no spinup. Luck, Jim
Are you sure the 2.5" HDD is good? How do you have it connected? I've never used a laptop HDD in a desktop before but they don't have master & slave settings...do you have it paired up with another device?

Some laptop drives do have master/slave jumpers - they are on the bottom of the drive rather than at the connector end. If you go to the manufacturer's website you can find the exact configuration. Also, as Jim says, with these fly-lead devices it's difficult to know which way around to connect it & as the power is fed through the end 2 pins (but which end!!), if you connect it upside down you can screw your drive.
