I have a dell laptop with a 20 GB IBM travelstar HDD. I am beginning to find myself short on space and am considering purchasing a larger one. Problem is Dell want about £400 for such a thing from them. I can buy just the drive (IBM travelstar) for £100 (40GB) or £160 (60GB). Problem then is how can I fix it in place? My current HDD has a little sliding locking plastic cover on the end with a single screw, which when removed allows the door to slide down and the HDD to be removed. Is this a standard fixing or would I really have to consider paying £300 for a single piece of plastic and a screw affixed by Dell?

unless some kind soul here knows for sure.

you can buy hdd as soon as high of hdd is less than 9.2mm.You can remove old ones and install new hdd.
But if you want to copy your old data to new hdd here start you fun.
You can use adapter to copy old hdd on any computer (adapter is for converting 2.5 to 3.5 inch, you can find easly at ebay for $12)
And restore to new hdd (to copy and restore you can use Norton Ghost)
