IBM Thinkpad T61 won't start

Hi, my IBM Thinkpad T61 beeped earlier b/c the battery was dying. I quickly plugged it in. Later when I went to use my computer it had shut down and the screen was black. When i try to put it on it just beeps twice at me. I tried a different power cord to see if mine wasn't charging it, and i tried taking the battery out and putting it back in. Nothing seems to be working. The screen just stays black and it beeps twice. let me know if you have any suggestions. thanks
