IBM Thinkpad T23 Standby Problem

I have a laptop : IBM thinkpad T23 When I press the "sleep" button everything works great and the computer is getting into a standby mode. but when I press the "wake up" button, the computer shows me a black screen with with a cursor in the side of the screen. That cursor doesn't stop to flickering and my computer doesn't wake up from standby ! please help me !

Check all the settings in the Power Options with in the Control Panel. Make sure it is setup to use Portable Laptop under Power Schemes. Has this just started happening or has it always done this? If it has always done it, just turn it off.

Well, it has always done it, since I got the computer, and all the setting are ok. the company that I bought the computer from them tells me that this computer can't get into standby, and they don't know what to do. I don't want to turn the computer off because it takes time to turn it back on, I realy need that standby, and I'm sure that there is somthing to do to fix that problem.

Leaving it on isn't going to hurt the screen. The newer technology doesn't allow for screen burning like it used to.
