I need to upgrade memory in an IBM Think Pad R40. What kind of Ram do I need to get and what is the max I can put in it? Where do I go to get it.The think Pad is a 2.0 GHZ with 256 mb of ram.

There are at least 9 different R40 Thinkpad models. Look for a label underneath & see if there's a "Type" number...something like 2681, 2682, etc. Once you find the number, go to the following site & select your model/type from the dropdown menu:

After you verify the memory type your laptop needs, go to www.newegg.com to purchase. From my experience Newegg is nearly 70% cheaper than Crucial. In fact they even sell Crucial memory for less. For example, Crucial will charge $170 for 1 GB 200-pin SODIMM laptop memory, while Newegg will charge ~$105.
