IBM A21m PIII 20GB HDD 512MB RAM. I own it since 5 years and had no problems. Though I did not used it much in the first 2 years but I was making sure that I was occationally discharge and then charge-up the battery to ensure that the battary will not die-out. Recently I did not use the laptop for 2 months and then this start-up problem has come-up. It is kind of strange because we had it A/C powered and then machine was booted fine and worked fine for couple of mins then once for all the machine was off and never started again. But strangely after couple of days it started working fine for couple of months. Even after having this start-up problem the laptop worked fine for for couple of months to I don't think there is any problem with the a/c adaptor as it lights-up the Laptop's led. But strangely when I remove the battary it won't light-up the led. Now we did not used it for 15 days and we are experiencing the same problem but this time i did not succed in getting it booted again. It started up normally but after couple of mins of use its totally when off and never started-up again. I don't even get any IBM screen or bios screen. I don't think there will be any a/c adaptor problem or battary problem as it worked for a while even after expericing this problem earlier. When I pressed the power-on button it just lights-up the hard disk light for a second and then it does not do any thing. Please help me.
