Okay well i had bought a ibm thinkpad 600e a while back and it always worked fine i could get into the bios fine and everything. Wasnt till recently i got a 161, and 163 error so i checked it out and said it involved my cmos batttery dying. sad i know but fine i had to order a new one of the internet because the cmos battery is quite unique. i got it and installed it and to my surprise i still get the same errors, i cant even get into the bios by holding F1 or anything, what could it be? what should i try and do?

Are you sure you got the battery polarity right? If you installed it backwards, the computer will behave just like it does when you have a weak or dead battery.
If that isn't it, contact someone who repairs these to see if you can find out what the error codes mean.

Ya well unless the manufacture made it wrong, because i purchased it off the internet. but im gonna bring it into also one of my professors and see if he can fix it. but if anyone else has a simpler way to check or somethin any help would be apreciated.

http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=LWIK-3SYPX2"NOTE: On pages 109 and 115 of the attached pdf file (actual pages 103 and 109), the Li-Ion battery pack part number should read 12P4064 replaces 02K7018."
Get into bios:
"press and hold the F1 key, then power on the computer.
Hold the F1 key down until the Easy-Setup menu appears"Lots of error codes in the manual. Lots of troubleshooting.
Error 161 and 163 are dead cmos battery and Time/Date not set.See page 44 of the pdf - checking the backup battery
Make sure the battery connector and its mboard match are clean.
Make sure its wires are not broken somewhere - trace the wires to the mboard and check the voltage there.
