A CPU is a chip that fits in a socket on the motherboard. Your CPU is a P4. You can't connect a monitor to a CPU. However, you can connect the TV/monitor cable to the video out-port on your computer, providing you have the proper cable & ports to connect to. How about listing the make/model of your computer, the video card port type (VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc), & which ports are on the TV/monitor?

TV's and computers usually have a similar connector but different signals. Either or both of them need to be able to use the others input or output. It tends to be best if you want to watch tv type stuff to get the computer to do tv out. If you want computer views then set tv to computer (sometimes termed vga) input.
Even hdmi may have two choices either on one side or both. Many web sites have step by step.
