Ok, I already have an idea on what I want to get but id don't know which processor to get. I have Socket 939 and it only take AMD Processors to my understanding. I'm having a real tough time finding which one to get. I plan on buy the Geforce 8800 GT GPX card, a 500GB internal HDD and 2 GB of ram. Does anyone know which would the best processor? Any help would be appreciated.

jsut because they are socket 939, doesn't mean it will work in your board. You better do your homework.

"I plan on buy the Geforce 8800 GT GPX card, a 500GB internal HDD and 2 GB of ram"

And you're gonna do what with it? Put it in the Compaq? You're definitely gonna need a new power supply so plan on spending another $75-100 for something decent.

Here's your system specs:

And here's your motherboard (it's NOT a good one):

As said above, "You better do your homework"

'does anyone know which processor would be best' are you saying the cost does not matter?

Socket 939 is obsolete, HP/Compaq's are built to a price and generally not worth upgrading. Building a PC is better as it gives more flexibility in upgrading in the future.

Also if you decide to upgrade the Motherboard and CPU to something newer the HP Restore Disks will be useless.....
