I want to share broadband connection between two computers, so I guess i need a router? The thing is, I don'd know what's good and what's not.
At the moment, I currently have the 2 PCs networked via a Switch. I'm guessing this means I could share the Broadband, but the PC with the BB modem would have to be turned on? And a router eliminates this?
Would this be any good to me?

Would I still need/use my switch if I got one of these?
Thanks for any help or information on routers, as i'm pretty much clueless!
Cheers,
Alex

If you linked both pc's via a switch, they cannot simultaniously connect. A switch is meant to be connected to a router for the purpose of uplinking. A router would in fact be your best option as it will allow you to connect both computers to the net and there would be no conflict and they can both get on at the same time. I personally have a linksys router, while my brother uses a belkin. There's really no need to be picky because they all do the same job. The choices come in when you talk about a wireless network. Since you already have them both connected via a switch, you probably don't need wireless. Simply connect the router in place of the switch.

I havent looked at the link you provided , but any good quality adsl/dsl modem with a 4 port router in built wil do the job.
I have a Alcatel/Thompson Speed Touch on my desk and at times I have had 3 to 4 comps connected to it and it handles everything, and is also linux compatable.
And no you wouldnt need the switch with the new modems, they are auto config, after the initial setup.
Hope that helps
IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT
