it where the os stores information it needs to access if you have more ram you can use less pagefiling taking strain off the cpu and hd because ram is quicker than the hd the cpu and hd will function more smoothly as well as the hd, plus the more cache on a hd the better as this is faster than the disc platters. if youre using 8gb you might be able to turn pagefiling off, less than that and you will need it on but set it to a lower setting for 4gb in dual channel. i use sytemsuite 9 for this and let it optomize for gaming

You need more ram its cheap 1gb in xp worked great on my old comp maybe even 2 1 gig sticks
