I spilled coke on my laptop. I got alot on the Keyboard and some on the screen. Now all it does is beep like crazy when I turn it on, but it loads windows and all that. I'm thinking the keyboard is sending singnals out and causeing the pc speaker to beep. I need help, I bought this thing like 2 weeks ago. I know it's not a sealed keyboard. Any ideas. Does a 3 year warrenty cover this. It's a Toshiba Satelite.

ah! just dont tell them you spilled coke on it and they may never know..i think the beeps are not very good sign the keyboard its all screwed up and shorting out.
ps: if it was me it would of been whiskey and coke together and i would of been drunk probley playing a on line game, so we know those things happien ever once in a while, so dont feel bad about it. ; )

Keyboards on most new laptops are replaceable. For that reason, no doubt.
Sounds like you got liquid on the keyboard circuit board.
If it is working now, you wait. Soon it wil get ALL STICKY and the keys wont push down properly.
And incidentally, under warranty, they WILL know. I spiiled orange juice on my Amgiga, about 10 years ago, took it back, and they said, it had liquid substance on the board, (dried up) so they refused to touch it.

One just has to wonder what it would do if you spilt the other form of Coke [not the real thing!].
If you are lucky, it wil dry out just fine.
Assist it by suspending the Laptop upside down, such that all the fluid will fall back past the keys. The longer it stays 'right way up' the more chance there is of some of this moisture getting to the battery, HDD and other components at the front: even the Motherboard [usually found at the rear].
Help it to evaporate by placing near a fan or use a hair dryer, on low speed and low heat: don't want to fry it now.
If it gets sticky, then you will need to speak to the dealer about getting it cleaned out.

Koby [from now on AKA sticky fingers]
On further note, there is a very detailled HOW TO, regarding the cleaning of a Laptop Keyboard.
Just follow the HOWTOS on the lower left of the screen.

I just want to know, is there anyone who has recovered thier laptop keyboard after spilling coke onto it?

From an online article-
If you (or a friend.) has accidentally spilled a soda into your keyboard you can use a cotton swab with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to clean the keys. You may have to remove the keyboard cover and clean the keys one by one.
It will probably be alright. Do a little research for yourself and find other articles on the subject. When they build them they know it's going to happen. I doubt anything that new will be ruined because of it.Jimi_l

Well, I'm deathly afraid to turn it back on but I will when I back from school. Second could u guys just keep an eye on this forum in case I am terminal and need some advise please? The only reason we got the laptop was because I kept screwing up the desk top. Now I've really screwed up the laptop bad... I hate sundays... :(
