I ordered the wrong RAM!

Specs: N/A
I accidentally ordered 6GB's Triple channel memory for my Dual channel motherboard. Can I go back and add a 2GB stick of RAM to my MOBO, for a total of 8GB's?

Memory (What I ordered)

So, would this 2GB stick work with what I have now?

Don't add URL to your links, it's just screws them up.

You should be able to add that 2GB stick to your 3 x 2G sticks. Personally, I'd sell them & buy 2 x 4GB, that way there'd be room to add more in the future.

Or you could sell one stick & add 2 x 4GB for a total of 12GB. Too bad you bought overvolted RAM. DDR3 is supposed to run at 1.5v. Since the stuff you ordered is 1.65v, you'd have to add more 1.65v.

Most times the RAM must be an exact match. Buying 1 2GB stick, even if it appears to be the same RAM may not run in dual channel.

FYI, if you copy and paste the URL from your address bar it automatically becomes a link here.

You could contact Kingston and ask them if you can get an exact match to what you have. The closest newegg has is listed below. Also a link to Kingston and links to both products.

The link you provided for the 2GB stick has a latency of 9. Your other 3 sticks have a latency of 7.

The latency listed for what I ordered is 9.
