I have an uATX (Micro) Motherboard thart has a Phoenix D686 BIOS in it and I need to get the lestest update download for it, I have looked for it, but cannot find it anywhere. I do not have windows installed on the hard drive yet, but when I try the system either hangs, or just reboots itself.

You can't go just by the BIOS version. BIOS chips are customized for each motherboard. You need to get the BIOS file from the motherboard maker.

If you don't know the maker try using SIW.exe. That utility may be able to give up a model number of the board. Get SIW at the link below.

Why do you feel you need to update the BIOS?

Yes, why do you feel you need a BIOS update?

When you have a problem with the system the BIOS is usually the very last thing you think about, a last resort when all else has failed.

First thing to do is to check your memory and hard disk. Make sure they are in good working order. You can get a hard disk diagnostic from the disk manufacturers and a memory checker here: http://www.memtest.org/

I agree with Othehill and Stuart. Look for some other reason for your problem.
