Hey Yall,

I do some serious gaming and DVD viewing and will be getting a rather large income boom next month.

I am willing to spend around $1,000 (canadian) on a monitor.

I would like the biggest and best. But not LCD. I hate those stupid things with a vengence.

I have lots of room on my desk so size and weight are no concern.

Ideally, id like something that could do 1600x1200 at 75 hertz or more. Im thinking of 21 inches also....

thank you

www.newegg.com

goto SHOP BY CATEGORY and find the monitor that best suits your needs/budget. Like a certain monitor? Read the reviews and if it sounds good, buy it!

Take a Trinitron flat tube. They are really good. I have an Iiyama 17" for years and it's still great.

As you want to do high resolutions take one with many kHz because that influenzes how many Hz you can do in a resolution.
For example my 17" with 96kHz runs at 1280x1024 with 85Hz. It's a nice and calm picture. Some think it's a bit small on a 17" but I started lower and got used to it!

For a 19" you will need at least 105kHz and with 21" it may be even more.

If you want a really good and calm picture I suggest to take a monitor with no less than 85Hz at 1600x1200. You eyes will thank you when you sit at it for a while!

Get a projector. you want BIG and COOL? Or technically the best (when there is hardly anything in it anyway).

This one's native XGA (max UXGA).

I agree w/ JMano808, Sony F520 is the absolute best CRT out there, and has been for the past several years.

Cheers.
