I am new to computer upgrades and I just bought a computer game and it says that my video device does not support it. I am running a dell optiplex gx110. I am wondering if I could change out the video card or if I need to change out the processor and the video card to make it work? Any help would be appreciated.

In my opinion, you would be wasting time & money upgrading your pc.
Your best bet is to replace it completely.
I doubt if there are many games that can be played on your pc, even if you did upgrade.
I suspect money is a problem. Have a look at second hand pc's on ebay.
Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

Thats an old computer and your upgrades options are going to be limited.
Knowing what game you are trying to install would help. Most modern games require at least 1Gb RAM. You computer will only support 510 MBs.
You are limited as to what processors you can install. A faster PIII is about all.
A slow processor, limited RAM and it is still going to slow things down regardless of the video card you put in it.

Find the minumum system requirements on the box, and/or in the manual or release notes for the game on the CD, and/or in the manual or release notes for the game that may have been installed as part of the game installation, in Programs somwhere.
Tell us what it says.Look at System Information in Windows
(e.g. Start - Run - type: msinfo32 ,press OK))
On the right side, does it mention your cpu (processor) type and speed?
What does it say there? If it doesn't mention the speed of the cpu, take a look in your bios Setup while booting - it's speed will be in there somewhere - what does it say?
Look at Device Manger.
(e.g. RIGHT click on my My Computer, choose Properties - Hardware - Device Manager)
Look under the Display Adapter heading - what is the model of adapter there?

the dell optiplex gx110 pcs i have seen do not have a dedicated graphics card slot in them, so that limits you slower more costly PCI graphics cards and not AGP graphics cards (although dell stick the same names on different styles of computer so i cant be sure of yours).
Probably the fastest cpu yours could take is pentium 3 - 1000mhz, but again i cant be sure.
If you want to play modern 3d games your pc has reached the end of the line

What game specifically?
In general, your best bet is to buy software of the same vintage as the computer.
For example, the online specs for your computer indicate it has a 733mhz PIII processor. That processor was released in 1999. So if you buy games that were available in 1999, you shouldn't have many problems.
FYI, there were a ~lot~ of fun PC games available in 1999!
Good Luck!
