I want to get a new PC that's good but at the same time cheap. But the only processor I want is Athlon 64. I dont wan't any Intel CPUs and I don't want any AMD CPUs below Athlon 64

These are the two PCs that I've looked at but I'm not sure which one to get:

The first one is 100 dollars less than the 2nd one, but the CPU is 3000+ instead of 3200+ Is that a really big difference or is not really noticable? I want to play games on it like Counter-Strike but I don't want a really expensive gaming rig, I just want a PC that can play it at a normal speed and I dont care about the graphics being put on the highest levels. I also noticed that the first one has a CRT instead of LCD monitor. But is LCD really worth it? Cause the CRT is 17' the CRT is only 15. I dont care about HDD space cause I already have a 120 gig that I can just put in it. So should I save 100 dollars and go for the first one or is the 3200+ and 3000+ difference in Athlon 64 speeds worth the 100 dollars (plus the LCD, but its smaller than the CRT so I dunno)

I meant the Counter-Strike from Half-Life 2. I basically want to play game like HL2 on it with good speeds.

Oooohh nice deal, do u have a link? What's the full price before rebates? I dont think I'll be able to buy it right away though so the deal might be over by the time I get enough money for it. I'm gonna have to wait like 2-3 months to get enough money for a new PC. Then again, I'm not really sure if I want a new pc or Xbox 360 =D

Do you need a new monitor, keyboard, mouse???
These things are such crap. What is the motherboard? Brands for hard drive, cdrom, etc?
Build your own tower or have it done and while you are saving, but a part a month!

You might want to read my guide for building a cheap gaming PC. I have to admit, it's aimed towards people in the UK but the concepts are still the same.

In fact, if you buy your components from ebuyer.com and newegg.com, it's even cheaper than I have on my guide.

The $100 difference in the two Walmart computers is that the 2nd one has a better CPU, a larger HDD, & a flat panel monitor. Otherwise, the specs appear to be the same. I bet that flat panel has a slow response time though. Basically, these are not gaming rigs...they both use onboard video: "ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Graphics with 128 MB DDR shared video memory". They will not handle games like CS well (if at all), unless you install a "real" video card. And if you plan on doing that, a decent card will cost you another $100 or so. But 1st, you'd have to check if these machines even support AGP or PCI-E. A lot of cheap systems have motherboards that only have PCI slots...if that's the case, stay away!

ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP1

They support AGP. I've never seen an Athlon 64 PC without at least and AGP slot.
