Someone gave me a laptop (500 MHz/64MB RAM) to repair. It was riddled with spyware and had XP as the operating system.
I told him that he had to format and install Win 98, but he insisted that the minimum OS he wanted was Win 2k, it is his system and he's paying for it, so I did that.
Problem is I have to install an anti-virus, and considering the low RAM size that he has, I need to know an anti-virus that will not be a burden on the computer's lean resources.
Can anyone help?

Avast antivirus free software at DOWNLOAD.COM- has been reliable for me( I love it), and it has automatic online updates of virus definitions.. I switched to Avast from Norton Internet security because my PC was always hanging on some Norton process on my 667 PC,( I dont know why, besides I did not want to pay lots of money asking Norton questions on the phone ------------and I switched to FREE zone alarm firewall.(love it also).

Too bad you couldn't convince him. That machine is made for Win98, not 2K or XP. It must be slow as molasses

AVG anti virus is the best on for the size memory in the computer plus it takes up less system resourses
all good things come to those who look for them

Kaspersky is a very good anti virus but takes a lot of resources so it is apparently not suitable for you.
AVG is not very reliable and takes quite a lot of resource.
I would recommend you to use NOD32 anti virus,a very reliable AV that consumes a low level of CPU and memory .
