What are you trying to accomplish if I may ask?

If you are trying to access your printer from another computer, then the URL would be:

Shared name = Its the name used to share the printer in the printer sharing properties. May not always be the same as the printer name.

If you are trying to access the web portal of the printer to change settings, then use the following URL:

ip address = ip adderss of the printer (if its a network printer). This can also be located on printer properties, in the port tab.

Let me know if this helps.

I will try to make this as brief as possible
I have 2 Win XP SP3 pc's
#1 is wired to a HP Officejet 6200 printer via USB cable . It is also connected both wirelessly & wired to the Netgear router.
# 2 is wirelessly connected to a Netgear router

I am trying to print from #2 using # 1 and the router.
Each PC pings to each other & the router with no loss.
Both PC's have the HP in the Printer & Fax listing
I share the printer in #1. I am unable to share the printer in #2
I don't know if #2 requires sharing or not.

When I ADD the HP I check off "A network Printer" it then asks me "What printer do I want to connect to?" I check "Connect to a printer on the Internet or on a Home of Office network"
It wants me to put in a URL
I entered \\tom9300\autohpof which is my computer name and share name.
Your suggestion did not work. I got the message "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the name was typed incorrectly or the specified printer has lost it's connection".
At one time I got this to work without all this confusion. I guess I was lucky.
Can you figure what I am doing wrong?
