I am looking for some experienced advice here. I roll out low end servers that have RAID 0 hard drive arrays for mirroring of drives. The OS is on the RAID which I used to say that I would never do however it has been working great so far (2 years and counting for several locations and no problems). Anyway I am currently using some cheap sata 1.5 transfer pci cards which may or may not have a utility available to report live issues with the status of my mirror array. I am looking to upgrade from these cards to a sata 3.0 PCI card that has a software utility that monitors the status of the array. What I want is the software to tell me if one of the drives is failing (S.M.A.R.T. failure), ideally cyclic redundancy errors and if the RAID array is in rebuild status and the estimated time remaining on the repair. I also want the ability to control the raid array within windows, ie rebuild the array and maybe see a graphical representation of the health of the array. Has anyone here used a card that comes with a utility that does some or all of these? Any suggestions are appreciated. Also I want to keep it under $100 per card if that's possible. Don't let the price stop you from making suggestions though. Thanks
