I want to build my own computer. I know a lot more about being on a computer than I do about building one. I am not a gamer but I want a computer that can be upgraded a lot. I don't have a lot of money to spend but I want the best of stuff. I am going to take my time saving my money to spend it on the best. I need a motherboard that I can keep adding stuff to. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a few good motherboard to me. I don't care about how much they cost because I can save up. I just don't want to spend so much money and not be able to put more one it. Keep leaving more and more I will check them all out. Thanks.
Do you have ANY parts or are you starting 100% from scratch? Unless you have all the money you need now, it might be better to wait. Prices & technology are constantly changing.
I wanted to get one thing at a time. I know that you can't run a computer without having the main parts but I figured the best now will still be good later. I am starting 100% from scratch. So do you think I should just wait until I have a few thousand so that I can buy all the parts at once. I would like to Buy one thing at a time but if thats not smart then I will just wait. Thanks.
What is new changes every six months, therefore buying piecemeal is not a good idea. Maybe it is best to buy an entry level new PC to tide you over till you can afford something better?
My recommendation would be to save up until you can get all the main components at the same time. By all means buy harddrives, quality powersupply, Case and optic & floppy drives at whatever discount prices you find but hold off on the motherboard, CPU, Ram & graphics until you can get them at once. There is no guaranteed way to future-proof yourself in this business.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
All excellent advice above. To add to it, I would recommend setting your sights a little lower. You pay a premium for the latest hardware. I did that once about 12 years ago. Now I buy one or two tier back from the top. Still pretty fast hardware and at a bargain price. One other thing to note is that the best for one person isn't the best for another.
