I bought my system through Gateway. My bios version is BF86510A.15A.0045.P08. I downloaded the Bios update from Gateway's support site and it was unsucessful. So I went to Intel's site and downloaded the Bios update for the motherboard that supported the bios starting with BF86510A. It was also unsucessful. The computer still works but acts funny. It takes a minute to load and some of my Apps don't work. What could have happened and is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance.

OK, what do you mean by "It was also unsucessful" ? the download was unsucessful or an attempt to flash the BIOS was ?
Why do you need to update the BIOS ?

Sometimes there are small differences between the MB's sold directly by the makers and the ones from the PC suppliers with the same model number.
I'd avoid using a BIOS from anyone but Gateway unless you really need the updated BIOS and are willing to risk killing the PC to get it (if the BIOS chip is removeable you can get a replacement with the correct BIOS on it, if it isnt and you flash it with the wrong BIOS the MB will be useless unless your very handy with a soldering iron)

Is the acting funny why you wanted to update the BIOS or the side effect of a failed flash ?
If it's the side effect I'd recomend getting the correct BIOS from Gateway to start with (email them if your having problems).

When I tried to update the bios, both attempts were unsucessful. It started acting funny after I tried to update it the second time, with the bios update from Intel. I was told to update my bios because I was having a problem with a hard drive that my computer wouldn't recognize and still doesn't. I put the hard drive on another computer and it works fine. I emailed Gateway, but since I used to work for them, I know it takes about a week to get an answer from them, not to mention I'm out of warranty by a month.
