When I was building my system, I used glue to hold the processor onto the heat sink before attaching to the mobo. Will that affect system performance?

Glue or thermal paste?? if its glue it will probably fry the CPU

it could be thermal adhesive, if it was glue, like real glue, buy a new CPU and heatsink, and why did you use glue again?

LOL OJ !!!! I was working on a computer that essentially a desktop trying to be a lap top - a little wider than a laptop, but had a piece of glass over the top that was a touch screen. When I removed the glass I was surprised to find the cables and stuff tied up with MASKING TAPE!?? You ever seen that before?
