I just want two monitors

February 19, 2012 at 15:02:57
Specs: Windows 7, 8 gb
I want to run Two monitors on my CM1740-04 (with AMD A8-3800 & Radeon 6550), but cannot (HDMI and DVI cannot run at same time and I refuse to use VGA). I have pretty much given up on researching a fix, and have decied to either by a video card to work in Tandem or just a new one to replace the integrated 6550.
What should I buy? I game mainly, and work with Adobe CS5

Since you do not want to use your VGA port (both your digital outputs are on the same 'side' of the video card), you will definitely need to purchase a dual DVI video card.
These are the Top Ten:
#1 GeForce GTX 580
#2 Radeon HD 7970
#3 Radeon HD 7950
#4 GeForce GTX 570
#5 GeForce GTX 480
#6 WinFast GTX 470
#7 GeForce GTX 590
#8 Radeon HD 6990
#9 Radeon HD 6970
#10 Radeon HD 6950
From here:
But you may not need to go that high in the list. Choose the top 4 or 5 in your price range and then compare them. I've been looking at the GeForce 550/560's recently if/when I do another build.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

And you'll probably need to upgrade the power supply to be able to run any of the cards listed above.

Why don't you just buy a compatible card & take advantage of AMD's "Dual Graphics" technology?
