this is another followup, heres my last post

"I posted this topic before, but i'm still not sure. Whenever i am tring to burn cd's or dvd's my computer would just restart. I was told that it is my power supply which only has 10A on the 12+ volt rail. Although, when i turned off "automatically restart" the computer now gives me an error message saying, "Beginning dumb in physical memory" and lists a program called ntoskrnl.exe. I searched my computer for this program and found it in a folder which is associated with the "i386" driver, which im not sure what it is associated with."

I posted that message yesterday, and got a link that told me I should block ntoskrnl.exe, which i did. I than got a different error message saying that "Special pool detected, memory corruption." Does this mean that my ram is shot, or one of my ram sticks, or a driver error or what?

Don’t bother posting this in the 2000 forum; you’ll never get an answer.

NTOSKRNL.EXE is the Windows Kernel; keeping it from accessing the Internet can cause serious problems.

Yes, this could very well be your RAM. Use Memtest86 to check it. Can you post the error number that you see when the stop message occurs? (It should look something like this: 0x00000001)

Looks like a driver problem. What CD burning program are you using? And did you get this error while trying to burn a disk?

Yes, I do get this error while tring to burn a disc. I have Roxio DVD and CD 6, but the program doesn't appear in my add/remove programs window, and the cd says it is working fine and doesnt need to be reinstalled. So i'm not sure what to do to fix the drivers.

Yeah, Windows only has a CD reading driver. The recording driver is in the burning software.

Hmm, I don't know what to tell ya here. I guess you could try reinstalling Roxio.
