I have tried to remove agere systems sv92ex but i am unable. I click remove and I restart and it is still there. Now what? Thanks

I saw your other post. There's no way a modem driver is taking up over 2500MB (2.5GB) of HDD space. My guess is you're mixing KB & MB. And if it's 2500KB, it's only 2.5MB.

If you don't need the modem, shutdown, pull the plug, open the case & remove the modem from the PCI slot. Then close the case, reboot & uninstall all drivers & software related to the modem.

That is even worse. 4,160.00 MB is 4.1GB. That is more space than the whole of Windows XP takes up.

Either you are misreading the information or you have yourself one helluva virus. I suspect you are misreading it becasue fractions of a MB are not reported, It is either whole MBs or whole kBs. No decimal points. Where are you reading this information?

As Mickliq says, remove the device from the computer. Every time you re-boot Windows automatically installs any drivers that it can find for any hardware that doesn't have any.
