i have a dell laptop, screen stopped working

The screen on my Dell laptop inspiron 1100 goes blank when windows boots up, I ran diagnostics, hardware checks out ok, just goes blank when windows boots up

screen won't boot up in safe mode either, my guess is a driver is missing?

Connect an external monitor to see if your Display Adapter is working. If everything looks OK on the external you probably have a defective Back light or backlight inverter.

Shine a Bright light on the screen to see if you see your Desktop in the Background.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

Thanks, the adapter is working, I am able to get to diagnostis, etc. Only when the computer enters Windows does the screen go blank.

Oh, that does not sound good. If you can not boot to safemode (driverless mode) then your problem goes beyond drivers. Can you boot to "last known good configuration"? If not then you will need to repair your Windows.
