I can't delete the strange folders

November 18, 2010 at 07:24:03
Specs: Windows XP
My LaCie HD is showing LOTS of strange folders with long alpha numeric names that I can't delete. Some folders have short names with numbers only and are empty. The other folders have some .exe files and or .rtf files...again can't delete them. Our computers have CheckPoint/Endpoint security software....I wonder if that is the culprit. Any ideas on how and why?

It looks like the strange folders are Windows Updates and it's placing it's temp folders/files on the largest hd on the system. does anyone know how to delete these files/folders without having to reformat the hd?

a) have you tried Internet Explore/tools/internet options?

b) have you tried programs/accessories/system tools/ disc cleanup?

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

try going to dos

from cmd prompt I think the command is remove directory,

For example, to remove directory C:\BLAH, enter:

I had a problem removing found.000 directories, which were left over after running chkdsk

Or, use moveonboot or unlocker from windows

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.
