I can not open my WD 1000 GB external drive

Hello there, I recently bought a 1000 GB WD Passport external drive , I put like 30 movies in it but since yesterday I can not open it. when I go to my computer it is listed there but when double click on it does not open.I tried to format it still it does not allow me to do so.I even can scan it.
