HSP56 Modem-Caller ID

I have installed the above internal modem and the software given by BITWARE. the driver version is 9.x. my problem is even after installing the freeware caller ID client the modem does not give the Caller ID details.
1) Is the above modem Caller ID compliant ? 2) Will driver upgrade be of any help ? 3) Is there any driver upgrade later than 9.x ? 4) the TAPI Logfile says "Caller ID Unavailable=YES". What is the meaning of this ?

The TAPI message days there is no caller id. The HSP 56 is a generic window's modem. Not unless there is a specific driver upgrade with called id capability.

I believe a caller ID modem needs to be V92. If you know the modem specs you may be able to determine it that way.

V92 is not required for Caller-ID. I suspect you are thinking of Call Waiting Dave - that does require V92.
Caller ID is transmitted between the first and second ring. The modem has to be designed not to ignore this information and the software then picks it up and processes it. Of course you need Caller ID enabled by your telephone provider.

Yeah, I knew call waiting needed it and just assumed caller ID had to have it too. Thanks for clearing it up.
