I converted my 2100 from LPT to USB connection and now I have to delete the printer and reinstall drivers each time I use the printer. Is there a work around to make the printer acknowledge that it is now a USB Printer?
TIA Loren Sr.

Look for an uninstall utility. The link below may help.
Can I ask WHY you did this? Parallel port is probably more dependable. Plus you are just loading one more thing on the USB controller.

Thanks for the reply. I do not have an LPT port on my current computer but I could install one and go back to LPT I suppose.
I do already have quite a few USB ports in use currently, maybe 8 ports in all. Do you suggest that I return the connection to Parallel?

If you don't have a parallel port then the printer has never been installed as a USB printer on that computer.
Did you migrate a hard drive from your old computer to the new one?
What may be happening is this. Most times a USB printer has a different installation routine than a parallel port model.
You need to install the printer driver BEFORE connecting the printer. Does your printer have drivers for WinXP?
I suggest you remove all references to the printer after you disconnect it. Then run a registry cleaner. CCleaner is a good junk cleaner that also has a decent registry molule included.
Download CCleander and run both the cleaner module and the registry module.
Then install the drivers. If this is an all in one printer and you have a CD then use it and follow the prompts. Do not connect the printer until instructed or until the drivers are fully installed.

Thanks OtheHill...will give that a try. You are correct, this printer has never been installed as a parallel printer on this computer for lack of a parallel card. Lets see what happens when I clean the registry and re-install the drivers. Thanks again.
Loren Sr.
