Subject: Hp Printer ink question...OS: windows xp homeCPU/Ram: pentium III 128mb |
Comment: Okay here's my question... I have an hp all in one printer and it takes ink number 27 and 28 cartridges. I was looking on ebay for some ink, and I came across ink refill kits for those exact cartridges. I also have found ink refill kits at walmart and other places. What my question is, I could see how the black could be filled, it has a hole and doesn't look hard to fill, but the color only has one hole, but the kits come with each color seperate. How would that work?? Please any help appriciated would definatly save me money if I could use the refill kits. Hope this post makes sense lol. Thanks in advance for the help!!! Reply: (edit)If they're designed to work with those cartridges, the refill kits will have instructions on how to do it. I tried those kits a few times and had little success. If the cartridges are dried out (and not just empty) you may be wasting your money. Walmart will often have already-refilled cartridges available. You might consider that instead of trying to refill them yourself.

Reply: (edit)Don't bother. The hp cartridges, (my opinion) are designed to make refilling as difficult as possible. I don't buy HP printers for this reason. The cartidges cost about $40 and they hold about $5 in ink... can you say PROFIT!! Printers come cheap these days... until you have to re-fill them, and that's what they count on! The best kind of printer to have in terms of re-filling is a canon. Most have separate ink cartridges, that are quite large. Re-fill ink can be found anywhere (except for the photo ink). Of course at this point I must appoligize baecause my HP ranting doesn't even come close to answering your question!

Reply: (edit)I usually have good luck with filling BLACK HP cartridges. The color ones are problematic because of the ink formula, I think. If there are not separate holes for each color on the HP cartridge, then the top has to come off. "Starter" refill kits usually have some kind of tool to do this that squeezes the cartridge in a way that the top "pops-off". Not sure if yours can be refilled.
