"I have a HP 4400 printer and when I try to print a web page or document with photos and text it only prints the photos, I have a Canon ip2600 also and it works fine."

When you attempt to print something on the web, you don't necessarily get a result that prints all of what you see on the web page. Your comparison of the results for the two different printers isn't valid unless attempting to print exactly the same thing the same way produces different results.

If you ARE making a valid comparison, it's very common for people to NOT install the software for the printer correctly..

The "drivers" downloads, or "drivers" installations on a CD or DVD, for printers always have other associated software that must be installed properly along with the actual drivers. If you install only the actual drivers, the printer and it's associated software will NOT work correctly.

Follow the proper installation procedure for the printer !

E.g. These things are universal...

If it's connected to the computer via a USB cable, you DO NOT plug in the USB cable to the computer until you have installed at least some of the software for the printer !

DO NOT install drivers for the printer when Found New Hardware pops up for the printer, BEFORE you have installed the software for the printer !
CANCEL that, and when the desktop screen has fully loaded, run the software installation program from the CD or DVD that came with it, or run the software installation download you got from the web,
......

Other possibiliies...

Some printers have two black ink cartridges - one is used for photos, the other for text. If the one for text has clogged print head ports, you may be able to print photos with black in them but not black text.
Run a nozzle check or similar to determine whether all cartridges are printing properly. If any aren't , try running a print head cleaning procedure, then run the .
nozzle check or similar.
(Control Panel - Classic View - Printers and Faxes - RIGHT click on the name of the printer model, select Properties. Somewhere in there you can run a nozzle check and attempt to clean the print heads. You may need to click on a button or selection to show things that are not normally shown. )

First,I was printing a PDF file, both printers printing the same file word and photos. The HP during the print job quit printing text halfway through, printing only the photos. The Canon continued without a problem. I have done this many times without a problem.

"The HP during the print job quit printing text halfway through, printing only the photos. "

See response 2 - if it has two black cartridges, do a nozzle check or similar, etc. .

You MAY need to plug the HP printer into a different USB port.
