HP power supply

should take standard power supply but check dimension of ps & compare to standard ps as i have come across 2 compaqs with non-standard ps david

It is possible that HP have their own peculiar motherboard connector in which case a generic PSU will not work. Suggest you pull the old psu out and take it with you for comparison purposes when shopping for a replacement Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and his wife will never forgive you.

Hey guys, thanks for your advice. As far as I know, these hps have normal connectors, but there may be some weird fan on the outside of the psu, sticking out a bit. I was wondering if that could be replaced by a traditional psu and my friend told me it worked fine with the Hiro replacement from tigerdirect. but for some reason, the pc would NOT work with a more powerful psu he tried from another desktop. Any clues why? the psu was fine. Mike
