Comment: hi everyone, im thinkin of upgrading my computer but i am first trying to see if i have enough power or wattage. i have an hp760n (upgraded video card, and sound card) and i opened the case and looked at the power supply. it didnt say anything but HP. so i looked in the backside panel hoping to find some info. all i found was this: Ac Input 100-127v-4.0A 50/60hz 200-240v-2.0A does this have anything to do with my power supply? thanks alot

Reply: (edit)Yes, it tells you that it can be used on USA type voltage of 120vac or European type of 240vac just by flipping a switch. A sound card likely won't effect anything but a newer video card can require 25 to 75 watts additional power. If the output rating of the power supply is not on the hp label (should say something like 250w) then a visit to hp website or a call to hp tech support will be necessary. These power supplies are typically sized to just make the machine run with little overhead for adding much else. It's also possible the power supply can be queer to your pc and an off the shelf p/s may not work. I'd call hp and try for a warm body. Skip
