Hi All,

I've got a laptop that is not powering up. Battery and Adapter test ok so they can be ruled out. I've also tried removing both, waiting a few minutes, holding the power button down for 30 secs, replacing battery and adapter, but still nothing.

The keyboard backlight comes on for a few secs, but that's the only sign of life.

Someone suggested it may be the power inverter? Tried to get hold of the service manual from the HP website, but could only find the one for the ze4700, which doesn't mention anything about power inverters.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Without either some common insight or the actual manual you are not going to be able to do anything with that. Most laptop have some sort of dc to dc sub assembly. There is almost no chance you can get components unless you are near fab's. You might be able to get the FRU online but the cost is normally too high. HP offers series of systems. Call them or email them and they might be able to offer some repair service. They might even have refurbished systems.

Start looking for a new system.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
