hi, i have a problem with my hp pavilion pc. when i start it up the fan spins and the power light is on, but usually the fan stops after a few seconds and the monitor comes on and the keyboard lights flash. but now the fan just stays on, the monitor stays in standby and the keyboard lights dont flash. the only thing that i can think that may have caused a problem is that the last time i used it, i forgot that i put it in standby and switched it off at the mains without shutting down properly. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Hi, you could try removing any extra devices the PC may have attached to it (peripherals, etc.)then you could remove add in cards and hardware components that are not essential. This behavior may be caused by RAM, CPU, or video cards. Remove the RAM and reinsert it, you could do the same with an add in video card

If the above doesn't work your power supply maybe going bad on you. If it's broke, then blow that sucka up!
