Comment:

I have tried to install both a GeForce2 MX 400 and a GeForce FX 5200 PCI card in my HP Pavilion 8755c. I get memory dump blue screens and/or intermittent restarting. I have heard that the motherboard just can't handle it. Is this true? Any suggestions?
Also, is HP memory proprietary. I have tried to add more RAM fitting the specs, but the system appears to reject this too.

From what I have heard is that manufacturers like HP (& Compaq)and DELL only allow PC components of their own brand. Im afraid you're stuck here...

Ram:
Check the manual about maximal size and the use of single and/or double sided ram sticks (means ram on one or both sides of the stick!). Some older boards only allow certain configurations of ram sticks. Also try one of the new sticks alone as different manufacturers may cause problems together (not usual but it happens!).

Graphic cards:
Insert the card and reset the bios. I had the problems with more than one board and until now the reset helped!
With the pci card you may need to change the graphic adapter setting from agp to pci or auto in the bios (need old card for that!).
If you have onboard video on your board you have to disable that first!
