Comment:

A friend dropped of her HP Pavilion 513x. It will not boot.

When I fire it up I get what sounds like 1 long beep followed by 2 short THEN constant beeping.

The first post beeps occurr so fast together, it is hard to tell.

HP tech support was no help.

I have tried the usual, reseat, clear CMOS, etc. The machine has onboard video and an AGP slot (tried a working AGP card as well).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chad

If you are able to take out the memory sticks, clean the contacts lightly with a clean pencil eraser, then reseat your memory, that is one of the first things to do.

What is the BIOS?
Award or AMI.

For me it sounds like Memory, But 1 then 2 beeps would be video.
