HP mother bd failed twice -last replaced w/Foxcom- Tech says can't restore to "as purchased 2/08" because MB is now different (I have HP factory restore disc) Is this correct ???? OR how can I get bk to "as purchased", Vista Home Prm. w/HP mods & add-on's Tks Bill
Your HP Restore disk is designed to work with your old motherboard. If the new one is different, it probably won't work. You will most likely have to reinstall XP using a retail disc. If you can, just borrow a friend's disc.
Tks But I have back up FILE discs that aren't recognized. Can't believe tech put in hardware that is not compatible w/ software. And didn't warn me. Also the Burner and other software frm HP was much easier to use. I need the "As purchased software pack". Tech did install Vista and gave me the disc. Raw Vista stinks.
