I have a problem with an HP6615 I want to put a CD Writer in it. I attached the CD Writer to the cable but the BIOS won't see the writer. I attach the original CD to the cable and the BIOS sees it. How can I get the BIOS to see the writer or are there only certain Writers that will be seen by this machine.

Next to the connector on the back of the drive where the ribbon cable plugs into there are 3 jumper settings to set the drive as a master, slave or cable selcted drive. Which one are you using and on which IDE channel? Are there any other drives plugged into the same IDE channel?

Tried on all three settings the cable is plugged into the secondary ide port and nothing else is connected. It seems strange that it will see the old CD-ROM when it's attached but not the new writer could it be that the writer is too new for this computer?
