Your only hope is if the provider of the bios update can give you a file to reset back to the previous version. I hope there was some good reason for performing a bios update - they are not normally required and risk bricking your motherboard.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Rarely. If there is any chance, it will come from HP's site. If they have a BIOS update utility that boots directly to it, it might work. If not then only HP themselves can force it to be updated. The only other option is if you can purchase a new motherboard at a reasonable price.
What were you trying to do? Laptops rarely need BIOS updates because you cannot have compatibility issues and you rarely have a need otherwise. Note that you should ONLY use a BIOS update directly from HP for an HP computer, ONLY update a BIOS if there is a specific reason that the newer BIOS is designed to resolve, and ONLY done with the machine battery fully charged, plugged in through a surge protector, and on a desk or table where it will not be disturbed (laptop) [for a desktop machine: Plugged into a UPS I strongly recommend].

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

There is a bios recovery method here for the HDX:

that may or may not work for you.
