I have a HP G60 notebook that I've had around a year now. I've already had troubles with it and had to parts replaced (harddrive & cord) but recently every so often it makes rattling noises, like the sound of something tiny caught in a cage fan. The location of the rattling sounds are in the upper left of the base, right behind the vents. My warrenty ran out, and I assume something is loose. Please tell if you know what this is.

"...tiny caught in a cage fan..." ... from what you posted might be what it is!
... something tiny caught in the fan cage vibrating against the fan blades.

I am having the exact same problem...same spot...same sound...same laptop. Did you ever find anything out?
Only way to really know is to open it up. If a roach comes running out missing a few leggs problem solved. Likely
