My DeskJet stopped printing yellow. (boo, hiss) When I'm supposed to get blue, I get blue. When I'm supposed to get green, I get blue. When I'm supposed to get yellow, I get white.
I've tried changing the ink cartridge, updating the printer driver, cleaning the print heads, aligning the print heads, and calling Hewlett Packard's worthless tech support. Nothing worked.
Just a few weeks ago I bought 3 or 4 ink cartridges which I'd rather not have go to waste if I have to replace the printer.
Any ideas?

Sounds either like corrupted drivers or your printer went south. Try first deleting all drivers, including any entrys in the register. Then reinstall according to directions from HP. You had mentioned that you updated the drivers, but didn't delete them first.

Sounds like the printer went south to me.
Actually about the HP support comment, try the new live online tech support chat thingy. I gave the guy a REAL stumper and he was right on it.

I had the same problem with an HP 970 Cse.
I NEVER was able to resolve that problem.
I replaced it with a Deskjet 5550 and find that the quality is the same, the speed is faster, and the cartridges cost about the same.
I was able to <nobr><a class="iAs" style="border-bottom:darkgreen 1px solid;text-decoration:underline;color:darkgreen;background-color:transparent;" href="http://itxt.vibrantmedia.com/al.asp?ipid=7&cc=us&cf=1&ai=17357348&di=170157&ts=20040129170651" target="_blank" oncontextmenu="return false;" onmouseover="kwE(event,170157);" onmouseout="kwL(event);" onmousemove="kwM(170157);">return</nobr> my unused cartridges for full refund at Staples.
