Specs: Windows XP
Hello,
I have an hp computer not sure of the specs and all that, since im at work. Here is the problem for the last month if we turned the computer off and restart it then it takes forever to get past the microsoft screen. Now yesterday when i came home the mouse would not work and it was froze on the log in screen,so i restarted the computer. All the fans came on like normal and the light on the tower comes on,but it doesnt make the same sounds as it use to when i started it,it almost sounds like maybe the processor isnt starting or something like that???Anyways all i get is a black screen and my monitor keeps going to sleep!!!
Anyone have any ideas??
thanks

You have probably heard this time and time again but if you havent done it i suggest you try it because 9 times out of 10 it really does work. Check your ram sticks...switch them around...try to turn on your computer with only one of them in (if you have multiple sticks) and then cycle through them. Try them one by one, and if you have a spare that you know works, try that first.

"not sure of the specs"

Is this it?

"Check your ram sticks"

I doubt the problem is memory related but if it'll make you feel better, try switching the sticks around.

"it doesnt make the same sounds as it use to when i started it,it almost sounds like maybe the processor isnt starting or something like that"

Processors don't make noise...fans make noise. Are you getting any beep codes when you attempt to start the system?

No im not getting any beeping sounds at all,the only sounds the computer makes is the fans coming on.I also over the weekend tried the memory sticks and nothing happen.Im just curious if this could be a power source issue?I think i read that the fans have nothing to do with the power source???
Thanks for any advice
