Hello, can please anyone help me on this?
Iīm trying to install an HP CD-RW 9300 series on my comp but the driver is not recognized by the bios most of the times(sometimes it is and it works fine when it is).Iīve connected it to the secondary IDE(as master)and i have my HD with a CD-rom connected to the primary IDE(HD as master,CD room as slave).Iīve also tried diferent combinations(CD room and HP CD-RW on secondary IDE, first set to slave, second set to master, etc) but still canīt get the HP drive to be recognized most of the time.
Iīve had this same HP CD-RW connected to my old PII running over the same Win98SE and it worked fine.Iīm guessing itīs either a bios problem(i set it to auto detect on both IDE)or a more complex harware problem. Can anyone please suggest me a way out of this mess?
(Sorry for my lousy english, not my native tongue^_^)

Try putting the HD on the primary channel, set to
cable select; put the CD-RW and original CD-ROM on the secondary channel, both set to cable select.

Ok, done what you sugested but still couldnīt get the drive to be recognized and ended up with a code 10 on secondary channel.
Even tried the primary channel combination(slave it to HD, cable select CD-RW and HD)but then the comp wouldnīt even recognize the HD :\
I checked the cables and connections and they all seem to be working fine.Anyway thanks for the suggestion and for trying to help out.
Anyone would care to take a shot?I really need my CD-RW to work!
