Comment: I just got 2 HP Brio Desktop PC's from a liquidator and thy have formatted the hard disks. Once I tried to re-install Win XP with the CD Rom, it doesnt read from the CD although I've speciied CD Rom as the 1st in the Boot order. Once I tried to boot from a floppy with Win 98SE and it will startup the PC although still wont allow me to read / load from the CD Rom. Thsi particular machine have a Mitsumi OEM CDRom - 32 X Model # CRMC-FX-322M and wonder is it because CD Driver ???? I tried both the machines and problem still exist. TIA Novi

Reply: (edit)Open the case and check to see if all cables are properly installed, both power and interface cables to all Drives. Get into BIOS and make sure the system[s] is[are] setup properly. Here is is listing of some of the key combinations used to enter the BIOS setup on startup. You must do this during the first few seconds after you turn on power. If you see the windows startup, it's too late. Dell=Ctrl-Alt-Enter Dell=Reset(Twice) PS/2=Ctrl-Alt-? PS/2=Ins Toshiba=Esc Toshiba=F1 NEC=F2 Compaq=F10 Award Bios=Ctrl-Alt-Esc Phoenix Bios=Ctrl-Alt-S Phoenix Bios=Ctrl-Alt-Ins AMI Bios and Award Bios and others=Del (most common) Once in BIOS try to get to Disk Setup and let the system find the CD-ROM.
