Subject: HP 7570A Plotter Driver for XP?OS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: n/a to questionManufacturer/Model: n/a |
Comment: I've been searching for an HP 7570A plotter driver, but to no avail. I did find a relevant thread on here (computing.net), but it hasn't seen any updates in the last 6 years *sigh*. I have a post-company-went-belly-up-HP7570A plotter, but no driver. After searching all over the net, all I keep finding is many people looking, and only a $200 winline driver. I didn't pay that for the <expletive deleted> plotter. Do I have a huge paperweight here, or has ANYONE found/written a simple piece of freaking code that will convert "PC-speak" to "Plotter-speak" (without costing me $200)? Might one of the non-HPGL/2 drivers basic with WinXP work??? Help. thx, David.

Reply: (edit)It appears your plotter is at least 15 yrs old. There's a ton of info on the HP website about it...you're gonna have to decypher it: http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90142/ch03s03.html http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpv38781/lpv38781.pdf http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90950/ch02s07.html

Reply: (edit)The obvious drawback is that this 15 years old printer will not pass Windows XP hardware logo testing. The best advice I can give you is let it go R.I.P. i_XpUser

Reply: (edit)Well, here's a twist. I have no idea how important this thing is, or what it would cost to replace, but.... Do you have an EARLIER driver? Like for 98, or NT, or W2K? If worst comes to worst, the older drivers won't work with XP, maybe you could take an old computer running, say, 98, network to the XP machine, and "dedicate" the '98 machine to drive the plotter?

Reply: (edit)Hi, Not sure about today. Many years ago I used plotters. The drivers always came with the CAD programs. AUTO CAD Ver. 1 and at least up to 12 had drivers. If you are using CAD and can't find the drivers try the Cad program makers. Good Luck, Jim
