Hi,

I have an HP 2710 all in one scanner. I am able to scan from HP Director with no problem. However, when I pressed the scan button on the scanner, the display on the scanner reads:

You need to install or run HP software for this function. Press OK to continue.

I sent an E-mail to HP and the tech advised that I need to set the scan buttons in scan to settings. I followed their steps, clicked apply then clicked ok. I went to the scanner and when I pressed the scan button, several choices came up. I selected the option to scan to file. The 2710 appears to scan but then a message comes up that says there is no connection. I clicked the cancel button on the scanner and then pressed the scan button again. This time, the first message came up:

You need to install or run HP software for this function. Press OK to continue.

It's as if the scanner ignored the fact that I clicked apply to save the settings.

I am able to scan from the computer but not able to scan from the scanner. HP insists that I am not following their steps but I know that I am.

Does anyone else have this scanner? Did you have the same issues? How did you resolve them?

Thanks,
Veets

Folks,

HP replied and their reply actually worked!! Sorry for the inconvenience. It was so simple! I had to go into MSCONFIG and check anything that started with HP. I did that, restarted and now I can scan!
